The Bank 1869 exudes the chic grandeur of the Roaring Twenties. Rik Vercoutere and his wife Marie purchased this neoclassical building in 2019 and used the coronavirus lockdowns to stylishly renovate it into the luxurious, timeless elegance of a century ago.
Driven by her great passion for interior design, Marie transformed the former bank building into a charming boutique hotel. The combination of antique elements with modern decoration creates a very warm and intimate atmosphere.
Back to the old days
The Bank 1869 is the ideal base for discovering Bruges in peace. Each of the 4 extremely stylish rooms brings the spirit of the past to life.
In another location in the city center, Marie and Rik also run the guesthouse Odevaere. In these five beautiful rooms and city apartments, tourists and business people enjoy optimal comfort and design.

Coffeebar Adriaan perfectly complements The Bank 1869. While waiting for your delicious ‘cup of comfort,’ prepared by barista Marie with a manual machine, take a seat in one of the authentic brown café chairs, which perfectly match the pistachio green walls. Beautiful accessories, like the old bank vault and the document elevator behind the bar, catapult you back to a glorious past.
